Instructions for Making a Vacuum Bumper Guard
First, determine if you want the bumper guard to cover three sides of your vacuum or just the front. In this example, I cut the pipe insulation to cover the three sides of my vacuum. Keep in mind that pipe foam generally comes in 4 foot sections.
Measure the sides of your vacuum cleaner head to determine how much foam pipe insulation you’ll need. With scissors, trim the length of tubing so that you are only using around 2/3 of the circle, cutting the side without the sticky tape.
Once you have the vacuum measured and the tube cut, position the taped, sticky side of the pipe foam towards the top. Make a ‘V’ notch in the foam at the at both cut ends of the pipe foam as shown. Be careful not to cut all the way through the foam.
Pull off the covering of the self-seal tape according to the package instructions, and gently press the sticky side to the vacuum head. With the notches at the corners, the pipe foam easily makes the turn to the next side.
The foam pipe insulation is sturdy and won’t mark your furniture or walls. You’ll want to share this easy Quick Tip with friends.
